Best Slumber Party Games for Kids of All Ages

Putting a fun slumber party together can be tricky sometimes. Although there is no pressure as all the kids come over wanting to have a good time, as the hosting parent you want to make sure that you have enough food and games ready to make the night happy and the kids smiling. So, make sure to prepare by getting lots of easy to munch on snacks for the evening, pretzels, mozzarella sticks, cookies and chips. Also, have low sugared drinks at hand such as water and milk. Juices are a better choice for the morning, as you don’t want to have the kids up the entire night. Have lots of toast, peanut butter and jelly and pancake mix ready for breakfast. With all the food needs out of the way is time to plan the rest of the night. Here are a few slumber party games that are guaranteed to make the evening a great success.

Friendship Bracelets

In order to make everyone feel welcomed and part of the group, start the night off by creating friendship bracelets. All you need to get is colored embroidery thread. Each bracelet needs about six strings, 10 inches long. Tie a not at one end and then group them two by two. Start braiding them and when you get one third way down, switch the pairings, so that you give it a pattern. When you reach two thirds down, switch again. When you are almost done, tie a knot and you are all done. Make the kids pass the one they made to the child sitting to their right. Now everyone is officially friends.

Stuffed Animals Game

To make this game a success, ask everyone to bring their plush toy to the party. If they forget to bring one, make sure to have a few extra teddy bears ready. The next step is to put all the stuffed animals in a pile or bin. Each kid will be blindfolded and will have 20 seconds to go through the bin and find their toy. The other kids are supposed to cheer and help them find their stuffed animal. At the end of the game, after everyone has tried to find their toy, you can go celebrate with some milk and cookies. There are no losers in this game. Everyone is there to have fun!

Decorate Your Pillowcase

Since this is a slumber party, this game is extremely fit for the occasion. Get a few white pillowcases and have them ready for decorations. Stop by your local arts and crafts store and pick up some paint, stickers, glitter, markers. Then let everyone’s imagination run wild, while they decorate their very own pillow case. To make it more thematic you can ask the children to draw a night or day picture, a fantasy world or whatever they want to dream of at night. Let them dry overnight and let the kids take them home as souvenirs from the party.

Lullaby Game

After all the fun they are having, you will need a game that would calm the kids down and prep them for going to bed. To do it in an entertaining way, have the kids put their plushies to bed. Ask them to lie in the beds or in their sleeping bags and place their toys on the pillow. Next, each every child to sing a lullaby to their toy to help it fall asleep. They can tag along with a friend, if they do not want to sing alone. Ask them to be quiet so that they can help the toy fall asleep peacefully. This will also help them fall asleep and be ready for a new fun day tomorrow.
