It’s that magical time of the year, when we take time to think about all our loved ones and go gift hunting all day long. Although it can be a hassle one particular category is always fun to shop for: babies. They are at a point in their lives when everything around them is play, fun and giggles. Hence, giving them a present is the most rewarding thing you can do. The laughs and giggles that will come out of their cute little mouths once they anxiously rip through the wrapping paper and dig into the stocking is the most crystalline sound ever.

So how can you make sure that you get them smiling on Christmas day? Here are a few suggestions that will make shopping even more enjoyable. Since most children can be relatively too young to express what they want, a very good resource to turn to are the parents. Ask them what they think the baby needs. They are the most aware of what their child might be low on. For instance, you might want to buy them this adorable bath toy, but it turns out they have plenty of that. Instead, it would be very useful if you could get them some fun toys to keep in the car, to help the parents calm the crankiness or moodiness that some kids run into when they "are on the road." So instead of buying a rubber ducky, go for the brown teddy bear and your present will be even more enjoyed.

Besides stuffed animals and bath accessories another great gift, that cannot go wrong for Christmas is clothing. Children, at any age, tend to outgrow clothes faster than we can read a book, which makes it a constant worry for the parents. Do not worry about the size, as most items indicate the age, rather than the fit, for all children’s clothing. You can also ask the parents for some guidelines, or if you do not have that option, just go with a bigger size or age. They will reach there very fast, so there is no worry that your present will not fit or be appreciated. If you are concerned that the particular item of clothing does not fit the style the baby is usually wearing, go for a more neutral garment such as pajamas. There is little to be picky about, since they are used for sleeping. All you need to worry about is for the PJ’s to be fluffy and comfortable, which is not that hard of a task. Or at least, it is easier than matching a style.

If you decided to go with clothing, always buy for the next season. It is safer, as children do grow very fast, and if you were thinking to buy a bigger size, it just makes more sense to have them ready for winter in summer. A bigger size swim suit is not really useful if they get to wear it in January.
