How to Decorate for a Spectacular Baby Shower
Don't you just hate it when that great idea just won't come? You want to create a fun baby shower for your friend or family member, but you have no clue where to start from. Do not worry. Here are some fun and easy ideas which will be a great starting point. Plus they might just end up unraveling the amazing party planner hidden inside of you.
Color
Most people say that you should start by knowing the gender of the baby to come. This is usually helpful as you can keep a blue color theme for boys and a pink color theme for girls. If the mother to be does not know the gender, or decided to keep it a surprise, you can keep a green or yellow color theme. However, I think color is not that strict. You can be as creative as you want and use the mother's favorite color. Let the present be more tailored towards the gender of the baby. Let the colors be fun and lively. After all, it is a celebration.
Theme
Theme is important, as it makes the party a lot more put together and a lot easier for the organizer. It makes all things come together without that much effort. The easiest theme would be a "baby theme." Some storks, diapers, bottles and rattles and you have your theme. However, if you want to make it more fun, be a little less traditional and choose something that goes with the season, for example. Suppose Valentine's Day is right around the corner. You can use it as part of your décor, making it your theme. The same goes for any other celebration such as Fourth of July, Halloween, etc. If you cannot find any good fit, you can simply make the season you are in, or the season the baby will be born, as a theme. A summer or beach theme in winter is surely going to warm up everyone and have them all in a sunny mood.
Decorations
This could be one of the biggest head-aches, but rest assured they do not have to be. An easy way to make your party have great decorations is to add the symbol of "little" to everything. For your Valentine's Day theme party you can add little hearts on the wall, have balloons saying "I love you baby!" and little heart candles laying around and you are all set. By the way, balloons can make wonders, so regardless of your theme, you should have some balloons hanging around. If you want to get creative you can use baby food jars to hold them in place. They will be both practical and cute. Another great way to decorate is to have the symbol of motherhood around. Here you can use stuffed animals. For example, you can use a stuffed lioness and her cub as the centerpiece for the gift table. You can also use a big teddy bear and a small teddy bear as mother and child. With stuffed animals, the possibilities are endless. Just choose the particular plush animal you like and pair them up to get a little family. You have a winning combination with this one.
Favors
Although they are not a must, favors are appreciated at any baby shower. Plus, they can be very helpful during your decorating, as they can surely fill the place and make it look well put together. Here you can go all the way if you want, or be as simple as you want. One of my friends had some very cute napkins as favors which had some little baby drawings and toys painted on them. They were simple, yet they impressed everyone. Another great favor is a little stuffed animal. Maybe the smaller version of your centerpiece. You can use a small teddy bear, some stuffed lions, plush cats, whatever you like. They will be extremely elegant if you pair them up with the centerpiece, and it will get you many compliments for being so thoughtful and organized. Plus, they are rather easy to find and, due to their size, they are affordable as well. Little photo frames and carriage shaped candles are among the popular favors, if you are looking for something more traditional.
The list can go on, but for the ground work this lays a pretty good picture. Start by having a color or theme in mind and then decorate so that the mother to be feels welcomed into motherhood. Then, think about your guests and get the favors. Use them towards your advantage to make the whole decoration look put together. There you have it! A great baby shower décor done with little hassle.
