How to Get Rid of Stuff You Do Not Want Anymore
Spring Cleaning? A phrase that we are all familiar with. Whether in spring or another season, the truth of the matter is that some time during the year we get tired off all the stuff we have laying around the house and we decide it is time to get rid of them. If you find the task a nuisance or if you do not where to start, here are a few ideas. Don't just through away stuff. There are ways you can make somebody else happy, by giving away your old stuff. Plus, you could help yourself by having someone else do the heavy lifting for you. Here is how.
Clothes and Garments
Even though the dress you wore 4 years ago to your cousin's wedding was a blast, you know you will not wear it ever again. So, pile it up along with all the extra t-shirts, skirts, jeans and shoes and put them all in a big garbage bag. When you are all done, get all the bags and place them in your trunk. On your way to work or to the supermarket, you will surely see one of those drop-off boxes for clothes and shoes. Most stores have them. The reason you did not see them before is because you did not know you have to look. Just put them in there and you are worry free in an almost effortless way. What is more you know that these might actually help someone in need, as most drop-off boxes belong to the Red-Cross or other service organizations.
Stuffed Animals and Other Toys
If you have kids, you know how their toy collection gets overwhelmingly big extremely fast. Not only that, but they grow out of some of them and there is hardly any room left for new ones. Therefore they need to be cleared out and sorted. A very good way to get rid of them is to donate them to charity. There are so many organizations that do "toy" drives and collect teddy bears and other stuffed animals. Even if you do not find one, you can always go to the local church (even if you are a non-believer, or you do not pertain to that particular religion). These institutions always have a way of getting the items to the ones in need. If you have a little more time, you can use your lunch break to look for institutions that collect toys and plush animals that send them to local or international orphanages. Just imagine how happy you could make a child by sending all this out to them.
Furniture and Home Accessories
This is the hard part. Literally! We have so many things piled up in the basement or in the garage, but we do not want to think about them. Just the thought of moving them gives us the chills. Well, you do not have to. Just mention to your friends or co-workers that you have this old couch that you want to get rid of, and you will see how someone will surely have a college student in their lives who needs a couch for their dorm or shared apartment. This is true with almost anything. Just spread the word that you have free stuff to give and someone will pop out happy to have it. If you were thinking of making some money out of it, in a way you are. At least you do not have to rent a van to get the items out of the house. If you are more tech savvy there are many online communities where you can post the items that you have and wait for someone to contact you. At times you can even make a profit, but if you are looking just to get rid of stuff, this is a great way to put the word out there that you have a spare TV table that you want to get rid of.
So no matter what you need to clean out of your house there is always a way. You can donate them, give them to charity, or have someone get it right from your door. So, the next time you feel like doing some "spring cleaning," you will not feel overwhelmed. Just see which category the items fall in and you are all set. Happy cleaning!
