Let me tell you a quick story. It was Monday morning and it was just days away from my cousin’s birthday party. As always, I let the days go by and I realized that I completely forgot to get him a present. With so little time at hand, I started surfing the internet for a gift. My sister was joining me in getting the present, but neither of us knew his taste too much, so we had to look for something neutral. However, we both like attaching meaning to gifts, so we couldn’t go with the "gift card" type of present.

In my search, I came across stuffed animals. What a great idea! Our cousin builds and fixes lots of things around the house. His wife swears he has eight arms, not just two so then a stuffed octopus, would be such a fun present, and I was sure no one would come up with it. As I was surfing the internet, I saw that some toys are "posable," while some are not. I found the information very useful since you can make or break a gift by buying the right stuffed animal.. Nevertheless, my sister was completely puzzled as to what is the difference between posable and non-posable plush animals.

The difference is simple. Posable toys are the ones which are flexible. It’s the kind of teddy bear that you can place in any position, with one leg over the other, with its hands up, down and so own. This type of stuffed animal is excellent for kids, as they can play with it really easily and it is great to hug them. Moreover, since posable plush toys are almost always soft and fluffy they are great to sleep next to at night. Of course, grown ups can enjoy them as well. We all need a bear hug from time to time.

Non-posable plush animals are the non-flexible ones. The kind you can easily place anywhere, since most of them come in a sitting position, or a balanced standing position. I am sure that if you ever went to an ice-skating competition you know what a non-posable stuffed animal is. Just think of the teddy bears thrown on the ice, after a performer finishes their routine. Usually, these toys are great for collecting or decorating. More so, they are great "companions" to flowers and chocolates since they can easily hold a bouquet and a box. I am sure this gives you many gift ideas.

Going back to my story at the beginning, it is needless to say that we got a posable octopus for our cousin. A non flexible one defeated the meaning of our gift. The main idea is, that you need to know what the meaning of your stuffed animal is, and then choose: posable or not?
