Traditional Easter Games and Some New Easter Activities for Children - Part I
Easter is always fun. It brings so many of us together: family, friends and lots of happy little kids hunting for eggs and looking for all those treats that the friendly Easter Bunny has hidden all over the house, garden, etc. Nevertheless, as the host, or the parent, we still end up with a lack of games that we can have our kids play for one entire day. Although the egg hunt is always fun and takes quite some time to complete, once it is done then what?
Then... it is time to try some more games! Here is a list of some fun Easter day games that will keep both the kids and the parents happy. Plus, this way everyone is able to enjoy the day and join in the excitement.
The Egg Hunt
Since it was just mentioned, we have to include this game in the list. Mainly because some of us might not consider it, if our home is not as big, or the weather did not allow for hiding the eggs outside, which is usually the custom. Have no fear, in order to make this activity fun there is no need for that much space. What this game calls for is some creativity. The main purpose of this game is to have the kids all excited about finding as many eggs as possible in a certain amount of time.
The best places to hide them are in easy to reach places such as, under the pillows of your bedroom bed, or the couch pillows. Behind the stuffed animals in your child’s room is another great place. All those stuffed lions, teddy bears and other soft toys are a great hiding place, especially since they are safe for children. Another great location is shoes that are staying on display. Make sure you do not put them in someone’s shoes or else you might have some funny incidents. The main idea is to try to find low places, as usually kids are not too tall. Also try to find soft locations such as pillows, stuffed animals, etc., as you have to think of the children’s safety at all times.
A nice twist to give to this game would be to try to hide on stuffed bunny somewhere in the home. You could tell them that the Easter Bunny left one of his cousins in the house for them to have. This way, the children will be even more determined to look around and find all the great stuff left behind by the bunny. This activity can last for a few hours, although it typically runs for half an hour to one hour. It is definitely a favorite among Easter games and a must when considering what to start the fun day with.
Easter Eggs crafts
Another great activity during Easter is to create Easter crafts. This is a great activity from a parent’s perspective as well, since is does not require as much supervision as the egg hunt. All you need is some paper, crayons and a little display of painted eggs, some chicks and a bunny. The "props" are not necessary but in order to get the kids to be able to draw and create an authentic Easter craft I believe some guidance is necessary. So next to the crayons have some little stuffed chicks, a printed painted egg example and maybe a small stuffed bunny so that all the children have the exact images in front of them.
Then, let their imagination fly away and ask them to draw colorful eggs with little chicks cracking the shell, or maybe a full scenario of the Easter bunny hiding the eggs in the house or garden. With the tools you provided and the little props, they are sure to have lots of fun and create wonderful masterpieces. The best picture or drawings can be rewarded with taking the little chicks or the stuffed bunny home. That will surely spur everyone’s interest even more.
This is it for the more traditional games. The egg hunt and the crafts are among the more traditional games that we usually see on Easter. However, the little twists added by introducing the little plush chicks and stuffed bunny will make them even more fun than usual, therefore making the atmosphere even better.
